Environmental Policy
We will carry out a Carbon Trust Survey of our managed buildings along with an initial environmental review so as to identify significant environmental aspects covering our responsibilities in all activity areas. Our Environmental Policy Statement will then be revised if necessary.
In revising our existing Policy Statements we will additionally:
- Establish how best to incorporate a commitment to continual improvement in our measurement of environmental performance.
- Provide a framework for setting, reviewing and resourcing environmental objectives and targets.
- Establish how best to communicate the policy to all employees, expand the involvement of employees and make it available to the public.
Good Housekeeping
Under ‘Good Housekeeping' we include measures that represent minimal capital cost, but which require co-operation and commitment to energy conservation on the part of our staff and customers.
Use of Energy and Water
We will show commitment to install high technology plant and equipment to conserve energy and reduce pollution. We will use Energy Consultants where appropriate to advise on opportunities for continual improvement in energy reduction.
Waste Minimisation
We will comply with all legislation regarding the minimisation, management and disposal of waste. We will train the Operations Managers in current best practice. These will act as site-specific focal points for suggestions for improvements in how we minimise and manage waste. We will ensure that all managers are aware of their Duty of Care in respect of waste minimisation.
Green Procurement
The principles underlying our Environmental Purchasing Policy are:
- Increase the purchase of environmentally preferable products as a proportion of total spend.
- Identify environmentally preferable alternatives.
Maintain up-to-date information regarding manufacturers, vendors, and other sources for locating/ordering environmentally preferable products.
Sustaining the local Economy
Where value for money is equal we will favour local suppliers over non-local for goods and services.
