A Sport for Life
Our Academy of Swimming offers a wide range of lessons for all ages and abilities from 4 months old upwards. Once you have booked onto a course with the Academy, you are guarenteed a place as long as you wish to continue with lessons.
Our programme coincides with the school terms throughout the year, with weekly swimming courses available during the school holidays.
We have an open booking day before the start of each term, for anyone wishing to enrol for the first time. You can book your course at either Cascades or Cygent booking desk, where they will be happy to advise you on the most approapriate lessons.
Adult & Child
Mums, Dads and Grandparents - all welcome! Gain water confidence through play and song, in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. Ages 4 months - 3 Years.
Pre - School
(3 levels - Beginners, Improvers & Advanced) Time to hand your child over to our qualified teachers to learn the basic skills of swimming. Ages 3 - 5 years, maximum of 6 in a class.
Non - Swimmer
(ASA National Swim Levels 1 & 2) Stroke building with hands on help from our teachers in the water, to gain independant movement. Age 5 upwards.
Beginners
(ASA National Swim Levels 3 & 4) New skills being learnt as the course progresses, including stroke building, to acheive distances up to 10 metres on both front and back.
Improvers
(ASA National Swim Levels 5 & 6) Stroke and breathing techniques, to aid the swimmer in completing a distance of 25m. This is the stage where swimmers are prepared for deep water classes.
Deep Water
3 Levels
Improver 2 - ASA Levels 7 & 8
Advanced 1 - ASA Levels 9 & 10
Advanced 2 - ASA Levels 11 & 12
This course concentrates on stroke technique, stamina, personal survival, starts and turns. These skills will develop your child into a 'complete swimmer'.
Rookie Lifeguard
4 Levels
Lets take all the skills learnt from previous courses a stage further. Working from the National Pool Lifeguard syllabus, the swimmers will learn the basic practical and theory skills that are required to become lifeguards.

Adults
Beginner, Improver and Advanced, don't let the children or grandchildren leave you behind. Do you want to be the one left looking after the bags on holiday? Come along to our friendly adult classes, which take place outside of general swimming sessions. It is never too late to learn, and once you have got it - it's 'A Sport for Life'
